1/27/2024 0 Comments Yankees magic numberThey'll stagger into the weekend still groping for the form that made them two-time world champs. The Yankees scratched out a run in the third, but it was a futile gesture. Richard took Gooden deep to complete an onslaught that raised Pettitte's ERA from 3.98 to 4.35. Only three others players - Jimmie Foxx (13), Lou Gehrig (13) and Al Simmons (11) - have put together longer streaks. It was Belle's third RBI in two games, giving him 100 for the ninth consecutive season. Pettitte was removed after run-scoring singles by Albert Belle and Ripken. The runners moved up when Paul O'Neill's throw skipped past catcher Jorge Posada, and the bullpen finally began to stir when Delino DeShields lined an RBI single into right field on a 3-0 pitch. Luis Matos grounded to short for an apparent double play, but second baseman Chuck Knoblauch's relay throw was high as the lead jumped to 3-0.īrady Anderson walked on four pitches and Jerry Hairston slapped a run-scoring single to right. Pettitte walked the bases loaded with none out before Brook Fordyce bounced a single into center field to score two runs. He was charged with nine runs in 1 1/3 innings, and denied a 20-win season. Pettitte threw 28 balls among his 43 pitches, including 11 in a row. The Orioles sent 14 batters to the plate in the second inning, just as they did against Toronto on Thursday while tying the club record with 10 runs. "It's not how we wanted to do it, but who cares?" You're going to go through good times, you're going to go through bad times," said shortstop Derek Jeter. The cheering seemed more an expression of relief. Last night, they sat in stunned silence until Tampa Bay's win was posted on the scoreboard.

WhatsApp: With well over a billion users, WhatsApp is currently the most popular messaging app in the world. It allows for video and audio calls, conference calls, file transfers, group chats, and can make inexpensive calls to non-Skype phone numbers. Skype: It’s so popular that “Skyping” has become a verb that people often use to refer to video calling someone. While Viber is one of the most popular messenger apps, if your contacts aren’t using it, you may want to check out one of these alternatives. Secret messages are only available on iPhone and Android devices. It allows you to set a timer to automatically erase the message, it restricts message forwarding, and it will alert you if the recipient attempts to screenshot the message. If you want to be extra secure, you can send messages using the Secret Chat feature. This also protects you from receiving targeted ads based on your conversations, which happens when using other messaging platforms, such as Facebook. This means that the company has no way to read your messages, whether they are sent to a single contact or in a group. Viber uses end-to-end encryption for all messages and phone calls. Great real-world gearing of a 50/34 chainset and wide 11-34 cassette with a low one-to-one 34/34 gear meant I went looking for the steepest sections on local climbs to see how the Defy (and I) held up. It gives the Defy an eagerness when climbing. When climbing, the Defy has plenty in its armoury.įirst up is the carbon wheelset: though the Defy isn’t the lightest bike out there, at 8.52kg in a size large, you still enjoy a rewarding flighty feel, with a wheel package that’s 1,500g the pair, plus tyres that run without inner tubes. I ventured onto a few gravel road sections when testing and the Defy excelled here as well as it did on tarmac roads. Over rough surfaces the D-Fuse post and bar work harmoniously with added smoothness afforded by the new 32c Gavia tyres. The ride position afforded by the 605mm stack and 390mm reach errs on the sporty side of sportive bikes. On the road, the Defy is gloriously composed with a wonderful ride quality. Most apps that show notifications offer an option to disable them. Pakistan denies the charge, and most Kashmiris consider it a legitimate freedom struggle. The above options only work for apps that use the traditional Windows notification method. New Delhi insists the Kashmir militancy is Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Most Muslim Kashmiris support the rebel goal of uniting the territory, either under Pakistani rule or as an independent country. Rebel groups have been fighting since 1989 for Kashmir’s independence from India or its merger with neighboring Pakistan. Kashmir has been on edge as authorities also put in place a slew of new laws that critics and many Kashmiris fear could change the region’s demographics. It will be the first significant international event hosted in Kashmir after India stripped Kashmir of its semiautonomy and took direct control of the territory amid a monthslong security and communications lockdown in 2019. The violence comes as Indian authorities are on high alert in Kashmir and have stepped up security in the already highly militarized region ahead of a meeting of officials from the Group of 20 leading industrialized and developing nations on promoting tourism in the region later this month. That fighting erupted after soldiers tracked a group of militants involved in an ambush of an army vehicle on April 20 that killed five Indian soldiers in the same region, according to the army. On Friday, rebels triggered an explosive device during an encounter with the Indian army, killing five soldiers, the military said. Separately on Saturday, government forces killed another militant in a gun battle in western Kunzer area, police said. There was no independent confirmation of the incident. It said soldiers recovered an automatic rifle and some ammunition and grenades and noted another militant was “likely to be injured.” Joint army, paramilitary and police teams “spotted and pinned down” the militants before killing one of them in a forested area in the southern Rajouri sector, an Indian army statement said. SRINAGAR, India - Indian soldiers killed two suspected militants in ongoing counterinsurgency operations in Kashmir on Saturday, officials said, a day after rebels fighting against Indian rule killed five soldiers in the disputed Himalayan region. 1/27/2024 0 Comments Argen wind vampireVanity nat5s (ex: sub par nat5s like water monkey king and dark polar queen)Īnd of course, don’t devil anything with a 3* counterpart! This includes all 3 star monsters and some 4s like Chloe and water/wind taoists.Nat5s you will use sometimes, but regularly (ex: Sigmarus for DB10, ToA 100).I have done these and would NOT recommend them: Platy, Acasis. Choice other nat4s – people will argue what constitutes this, but these are some that come to mind: Lisa, Briand, Emma.Nat5s you will definitely use all over the place (ex: OGs, pandas), or a really good farmer if you still don’t have one (ex: Alicia).Chasun – max S2 & S3, only needs S1 maxed when you start raiding or care about AD/GWD/Raid (and you might not even use her in raids).Vero or Baretta – note that Baretta doesn’t need #1 maxed.Vero or Baretta – whichever you fuse first, max first.Amazing nat5 – if you get something game changing that can also farm (ex: Zaiross, Verad, any Chimera, Anavel, Praha) before you fuse Vero or Baretta. My general rules for devilmon has been (across my 3 accounts) Just leave a single crappy monster in your defense to keep your rank down so you can farm other easy defenses. Make sure you get these EVERY SINGLE WEEK EVER as your primary glory purchase. For comparison, my main account purchased 7 packs by the time it hit 40. You should be able to afford your first pack around level 20 – depending on Com2Us events – and another pack every 3-5 levels after up to 40. There’s a bunch of math out there saying that the mana packs (I think…) are the most effective way to spend your crystals, so there’s that…but me I’d rather have monsters. However, IF you are super lucky and get multiple nat 5s or really good nat 4s, then feel free to stop with the 750 packs and just use your crystals on double xp and refills. I almost never buy double XP anymore – generally the 12 hour boost is enough to get me at least 2 5* fodder, sometimes 4, and then event rewards & DB10 angelmon cover the last 2. NOTE2: Due to the addition of the free 12 hour boosters when you 6* something plus event rewards, the number of double xp boosters you’ll need to purchase via crystals has been drastically lowered. NOTE: Due to the addition of the world boss, crystals are now a bit more plentiful, so you’ll probably have significantly more crystals than I did leveling up. Me, I like monsters, so I spent > 50% of my crystals on 750 packs until I had enough nat4s. OR, if you are the hyper efficient type, save all your crystals for double xp refills and eventual GB10/DB10/NB10 farming. I recommend saving all your crystals for the 750 packs at least until you get to level 40, or get a decent selection of nat4s. More later once I start caring about raids – right now I can only do R2-R3. You can start raiding whenever you want, but there’s not much point until a) you have runes worth upgrading and b) you can at least do R3, so I’d place it somewhere after DB10 & ToA 100. all happen along the way with the same kind of guiding light. So, depending on where you are in that process, when you are making a new 5* or 6*, you want to ask yourself: “Which monster will best help me finish this goal and move on to the next?”Įlemental dungeon, xp farming, etc. Giant B9 OR SKIP with friend’s rep or crystals.Elemental B8s, reliably awaken 4*s & 5s.Elemental B6 dungeons, reliably awaken 3*s.Note that this is completely depending on your monsters and runes – you may have a setup that lets you get to ToA 70 but you still can’t auto Dragon B7, for example. I can break that down a little, at least based on my progress. Just to give you an overview, I’ve seen this bit of advice thrown about, and it’s kind of mirrored my accidental progress, but seems solid anyway: This “guide” (and I use the term loosely) is a compilation of those notes into a form that I hope will be useful to at least one person. Hell, I started two alt accounts just so I could run hundreds of low level dungeons without wasting energy on my main account so I could get a better picture of the drop rates. Silly things…like tracking hundreds and hundreds of dungeon runs, or what teams I was able to beat X dungeon with at what level. Appendix III: Mechanics Questions & Answers
1/27/2024 0 Comments Wanted textmate smartI clicked the link to get v6.2 of Nova, opened it up and spent the next 7 days with it. The trial I had downloaded had expired but in the intervening months, Panic had reset the trial period for downloads. Skip forward to a few weeks ago, and for some reason I started thinking about application design, and in turn Nova. That will teach it to show off on my screen I thought. This simply won’t do! So I let Nova 1.0 languish in my Application folder for months. The splendor of Nova is a little unsettling at first I don’t want to create a scandal here.Īnd here was Nova, waltzing around my screen like some kind of 70s pimp with it’s neon colour schemes, quirky animations, glowing text and unadulterated sense of fun and visual splendour. I’ve never been in the bedroom of the Dalai Lama. Like the coding equivalent of the Dalai Lama’s bedroom. I was used to my editor looking dark, serious and spartan. Despite there seeming to be a few basic essentials it couldn’t do, it just, visually, felt too blingy. When Nova first came out in September of 2020, I took a brief and instantly dismissed it. To use an analogy: sure you can drive to work in a Ford, but Apps like Espresso and Coda felt like driving to work in a … (insert your own aspirational car here).Īnd that brings me, finally, to Panic’s Nova. It just put a little joy into using such utilitarian software. It made the whole experience feel different. It showed an app can have some kind of soul. The start screen of Espresso was a thing of beauty Have you forgotten how great Mac apps can look?Īs a long time Mac user, I occasionally get nostalgic for when Mac apps used to take you back by how, just ‘great’ they looked. OK, I know some of you will have opinions here so stick them in the comments but for now, let’s move on. But just don’t be under any doubt you are ‘paying’ for it in some way. You are just paying for it with your data and usage. Oh, just one more little point you are still ‘paying’ for VS Code. I’m merely explaining why, when nearly everyone else is using VS Code, I am not. Now, this isn’t going to be about me ragging on VS Code. Heck, I was on of the few people that liked the Windows phone UI, but if you are on a Mac it just feels a little off. Now there is nothing inherently wrong with a ‘Windows’ feel. This is most obvious when you switch to a new file, when there’s a horrid FOUC, just before the syntax highlighting kicks in. And it feels slow to navigate the interface. Yes, it has (almost) every feature you could possibly want. VS Code feels slowĭespite the near complete domination of VS Code in the hearts and minds of developers as I write this, I just can’t stick with it. And why I always come back to Sublime Text. Generally, the length of time I stuck with an editor was directly proportional to the speed, or perceived speed, of the interface.Īnd that brings me to the blue elephant in the room. Through all that, the value I have appreciated beyond all else is speed. Plus brief looks at things like Atom and Brackets and no doubt some others I’ve forgotten about. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of editors I have used for some period of time: I’ve been using a text editors daily for a long time. But I’ve also used text editors to write books, articles and even screenplays. I spend the majority of my working life in a text editor so seeing how a product solves the same problems I understand well is fascinating to me. I’m a sucker for spending time with new code editors. Want to watch the YouTube version? My text editor history It just always feels instant.īut right now, if you took Sublime away from me, and made me pick another editor, it would be Panic’s Nova. ‘Pound for pound’, in my book, when it comes to text editors, nothing beats Sublime Text for the feeling of speed. 1/26/2024 0 Comments Cheerio marshmallow treatsIf you’re looking for other cereal bars, here is a recipe for my absolute favorite chocolate peanut butter Special K bars. Although this recipe isn’t anything unique or special, I was excited to learn that I can use basically any cereal to make cereal bar treats. Overall, these turned out well and my kids loved them. My kids absolutely love cinnamon toast crunch, so I think I’ll try making those cereal bars next. That’s it! These Cheerio treats are really the easiest dessert option there is. Then, you dump in 7 cups of cereal and mix until well combined. You may want to check it and mix every 30 seconds until the butter and marshmallows are completely melted and incorporated. Then, you add the bag of marshmallows and microwave until they are melted. I’m a fan of the microwave for quickness. You can make them in the microwave or you can make them on the stovetop. To make these cereal bars, you only need 3 ingredients – butter, a bag of marshmallows, and a box of cereal. I wasn’t sure that cheerio treats would turn out as well, but I figured it was worth the risk. But for some reason, I never considered using other cereal to make cereal bar treats. I know this might seem like a simple and obvious recipe. Thus, I needed to find a way to get them eaten, so I decided to make marshmallow cheerio treats. I’ve kept the pantry too full, so they opt for one of their other favorites instead of the Cheerios. Although my kids do love Cheerios, it usually isn’t their first choice. I’m crazy. For the last 6 months, I’ve had a giant box of honey nut Cheerios in my pantry. Me bent over a two foot area with the nose of our boat poking me in the back and our other sides of me patio furniture trying to get a shot before dusk. A pitch dark house with one light streaming in from the back door. I wish someone had taken a picture of me taking a picture of these. We cut them up and brought them for airplane snacks. The kids and I made these Cheerio Treats in under 10 minutes. I was trying to not buy anything since we were leaving indefinitely.Ĭheerios – check. It’s like my Xanax.īut one small problem. Some golf, some exercise, some watch TV to relax them. I sprinkled in a little cinnamon and salt. I was pacing back and forth in the kitchen. Using my tried and true recipe for Rice Krispy treats, I switched out the cereal for Honey Nut Cheerios. Imagine all our outside furniture, our kid’s outdoor playhouse, and our boat in our dark house with one small light coming from the back door where we were waiting to put on the last shutter right before we left. In a dark house with the hurricane shutters on. Hours before our flight took off there was nothing to do but wait. I had my kids and my husband with me ( along with original copies of birth certificates, etc.). If you could only bring your most valuable possessions and had to fit them in a carry-on, what would you bring? Since this was a real life situation for us, I can answer that. Not to mention hurricanes come with tornadoes and that is one of my worst nightmares. We had no idea what the destruction would be or what we would be coming back to. The airport closed on Friday night and we were one of the last flights out. All the anxious energy we had was put to good use. Being prepped so early allowed us to help our neighbors and friends put up shutters and get ready. We did all that we could do and then hoped for the best. Truth is we were prepped for Hurricane Irma days before she landed. We are still praying for those affected by Hurricane Harvey and for those who lost a lot from Irma. Hurricane Irma was headed directly for our house and ended up taking a westward turn at the last second.Īlthough a lot of my friends are still without power, our neighborhood had minimal damage and were very fortunate. We evacuated for Hurricane Irma and have been in California waiting it out. Where do I start? It’s been a crazy two weeks. These Cheerio Treats are an easy no-bake recipe with cheerios, marshmallows, peanut butter, and M&Ms. You can also take a look at CNET's list of the best Windows laptops.
